Lace Day 2014

Lace Day 2014 was a resounding success!

Thank you to all the members to helped with the prep work, set up, hosting and cleaning up at the end.  And of course, thank YOU - the guests who came to visit, took the time to learn about lace and the Northern Lights Lace Makers.

One of the items on display today was a tiny figurine of a lace maker.  She seemed hard at work and didn't seem to be disturbed at all by all the hustle and bustle going on around her.

We had some lovely tatting on display as well as demonstrations of both shuttle and needle tatting.

Of course, everyone appreciates the grace and beauty of the tools used in lace making.  These bobbins were hand painted by Ewa of Needle Point Place.

Lace making demonstrations are one of the great joys at Lace Day.  Our members demonstrate and explain their projects, the steps, the tools, the types of lace they make and answer questions from guests.  We even set up a station where guests can try lace making themselves.  It's lots of fun!

A variety of lace styles, both antique and modern were on display.  Lace Day is an excellent way to see different types of lace up close and beside each other so you can compare the varying styles.

We enjoyed wonderful refreshments too. They sure were tasty!
